Project summary

Who are our project partners?

In February of 2015, a consortium of project partners comprising the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Medical Chamber of Slovenia, the Maribor Social Service Centre, the Emma Institute (Support Centre for Victims of Violence) and St. Olavs University Hospital, the Brøset Forensic Department, Centre for Research and Education in Forensic Psychiatry, began carrying out the 2009–2014 Norway Grants project (the project is abbreviated as POND_SiZdrav).

Project objectives

One of the key project objectives is the creation of an interdisciplinary training programme for improving the competences of health professionals in recognizing and responding to victims of domestic violence. Training for health professionals will also focus on aspects of identifying and responding to victims of domestic violence from vulnerable communities (immigrants, the Roma, the unemployed, the elderly, and rural communities).

Education and training for health professionals

The project will complement the system-focused services and programmes that have difficulties reaching out to these target groups, thereby contributing to reducing risks for social exclusion, marginalisation and discrimination against them. Education and training for health professionals will be offered as part of the project free of charge as they are funded by Norway Grants. They will take place between September 2015 and March 2016, with the scheduling and the content of lectures and workshops to be announced in June 2015.

The project is co-financed within The Norwegian Financial Mechanism Programme 2009-2014. The coordinator of the program is the Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy of the Republic of Slovenia.
